Tutbury Pre-School was established in 1973 and is currently attended by a total of 50 children, each attending for a variety of sessions. We understand that for many children, pre-school may be their first time in a setting without the reassurance of their parents. We ensure our staff to child ratios remain high to continue to provide a supportive environment for your child to feel safe in.
EYFS Framework
The Pre-School operates from two indoor rooms and a secure outdoor play area. The indoor rooms are called the Tiny Tots room (children aged 2 -3 years old), and the Rising Stars room (children aged 3 – 4 years). This provides the flexibility to allow the children to either participate in joint activities or to be split into separate groups to allow for age specific activities. Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and is planned by qualified staff to ensure your child’s needs are met.
Range of Activities
At Tutbury Pre-School, we provide a wide range of safe and stimulating activities for the children to experience, and with help encourage them to gain the independence and social skills to prepare for school. We are able to provide a flexible range of sessions to fit in with your child’s needs, subject to availability. We also accept many of the childcare voucher schemes.
Pre-School Committee
Tutbury Pre-school is run by a voluntary committee of parents and carers. The committee is responsible for employing all staff, including the Manager. It is also responsible for overseeing the Pre-School activities, raising the funds to keep it going and investing those funds.
It consists of a Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and other members. We encourage parents and carers to come along to committee meetings and join in whenever they can. It can be a really rewarding experience. As well as meeting other parents and carers you can have a positive impact on your child's experience at Pre-School and gain some new experience.

Tutbury Pre-School Family Playgroup
Open to all parents/grandparents/carers with children from newborn to school age
Come and join us every Friday (term time only) from 9.30am - 11.00am at Tutbury Pre-school for a chance for your baby or toddler to have a play whilst the grown ups have a well-deserved tea or coffee and a chat.
A variety of activities are organised including crafts, imaginative play, construction and books and toys. Snacks and drinks are provided for the children and this is followed by a nursery rhyme sing along with musical instruments. *Please book your snack before attending.
This busy session is run by a member of staff and parents help out with the setting up and clearing away. We are very keen to include all parent/carer views and suggestions when planning the session.
The cost of the session is only £4.00 for the first child and £1.00 for additional children. The price includes a tea/coffee for the adult and a snack and a drink for your child(ren). We look forward to seeing you!
